HALLS, Dentyne and Clorets have launched a cool contest to charm consumers.

The “Want It, Rank It, Win It Contest 2009” will offer buyers of any two Halls, Dentyne or Clorets products the chance to win a custom-designed Perodua MyVi car.

The two-month contest that runs from now to Aug 16 will also have other custom-designed prizes such as a laptop, digital cameras and mobile phones.

“We hope this contest will help us engage with the young generation and also impart the brand personality by rewarding the young for their creativity,” said Cadbury Malaysia marketing manager Ng See Meng.

The second prize winner will win a laptop while three third prize winners will each receive a Sony Cybershot camera and leather casing. There are also Sony Ericsson slide mobile phones to be won by nine weekly winners.

To enter the contest, participants need only buy two products from Halls, Dentyne or Clorets for a minimum of RM2 and rank the nine MyVi car designs according to preference.

The winning design is the most voted by the people, while the person who sends in the most votes for the winning design will win the car.

The nine MyVi designs – based on Halls, Dentyne and Clorets’ motto “Cool, Confidence and Charm”– were selected from submissions made by student designers from six colleges

Each of the designers received RM200 for their works. The design which gets the most votes will win RM3,000 for the designer.

“I want to leave something behind before the end of my time,” said Chew Sai Win, 20, from AL FA International College whose two designs are among the final nine.

Cadbury Malaysia brand manager Claire Dominic said: “The contest is based on digital media because it is geared towards its main consumers – youths.

“Halls and Dentyne appeal to those in the 18-24 age group while Clorets appeal to the 25-49 age group.
So, we are aiming to engage as many youths as we can.

“The contest has a Facebook page besides the website which is already up and running.

“We are also thinking about running digital ads.”

The “Want It, Rank It, Win It Contest 2009” forms are available from retail outlets.
